In an era when life has become a bit like casino blackjack, people are always on the run. And they seem to have lost the run of their own lives. Looking haggard and punch-drunk most of the time, as if they have no time for themselves! But, this is not the way it should be. What’s there for you in the sky, wreathed in clouds; when you can’t even enjoy the bracing breeze wafting the scent of roses, in your neighborhood park?
There is no harm slogging your guts out to get what you want, but you need to give some time to your mind and body that are doing it all for you. Yes, you need to pamper your mind and body! And no need to go to a hilly countryside for that. Just go to a spa, and you will relish the way you are pampered there.
Imagine! A balmy weekend, and you are tootling down to the pellucid purlieus of a soothing spa. Think of that lulling massage, body pampering treatments, mind quieting therapies, and not to forget that mesmerizing whiff of the spa unguents! Does it seem like a dream? Well, a good spa session can easily transmogrify this dream into a reality.
What is spa?
Spa is an archaic practice of bathing in hot springs and mineral waters. In simple terms, the word “spa” refers to water treatment, also known as Balneotherapy. Usually, a spa town, a destination spa, a spa resort are also referred to as spa.
There are various stories with regard to the origin of the name “spa.” One of these stories is that the word “spa” has been derived from the name of the town of Spa (in Belgium).Since medieval times, people afflicted with illnesses caused by deficiency of iron were treated in this town. The treatment entailed patients drinking chalybeate (iron bearing) spring water.
Another story says that a Belgian spring of iron bearing water was called Espa (which means “fountain” in Walloon language). There’s yet another version of the word “spa.” Some people believe that the word is an acronym for Latin phrases – “Salus Per Aquam” or “Sanitas Per Aquam” which mean “health through water.”
Well, whatever the real story is, one thing is for sure that spa gives you a relaxing, stimulating experience by slinging the toxins out of your body, giving you the heartsease, relaxing the mind, buffing up the skin, pampering you from head to toe, toning up your limbs, rejuvenating you completely, and invigorating the whole body system.
