DETOXIFYING FACIAL MASKS
Facial masks are luxurious answer to tired-looking skin. No matter what the condition of your skin is-dry, oily, blemished or a combination-there are facial masks that will work wonders. Skin is the largest organ of body and anything you put on your skin, your skin will eat sixty per cent of it, so you’d better make it wholesome.
Several good natural facial masks are available in health food stores, if you have time, you can even make some yourself. Raid your local garden or organic food store for edible ingredients you will need. These masks are not only beneficial for your skin, they taste great, too!
SOME OF THE WONDER RECIPES FOR DEEP POUR CLEANSING AND TONING
In simple mask for deep cleansing and toning is a mixture of one quarter cup curd with two tablespoons of oatmeal. As with most masks, massage on and leave for 15-20 mins when your facial masks start to pull (tighten your facial skin) remove it. Rinse with lukewarm water, finish with cold water.
Oatmeal, barley flakes or clay powder is all great ways for mask. Each of these is effective at drawing toxins from your tissues.
Clay is probably the most common base for facial masks. Clay contains a variety of oxidizing minerals including trace minerals. Non-allergenic, astringent, antiseptic analgesic, and anti-inflammatory, clay also promotes skin regeneration through improving circulation and drawing impurities from the skin. Clay masks can be made with only the addition of water for oily skin. If your skin tends to dry, then add cream, curd or milk to moisturize and soften.
SOME QUICK FIXES
If you want more of pick me up and try mash 1 quarter cup of fresh strawberries with 2 spoon each of milk and rice flour. This mask moisturizes, softens and lightens, as well as removes dead cells. How about mashing a fresh peach with a bit of curd or milk, this is great for dry skin. Avocado, raspberries, melon and papaya all soothe, moisturize and tone your skin. Any of these can also be mixed with clay or oatmeal for deep cleansing effect. Melon works best applied in thin slices.
Cucumber makes a wonderful hydrating mask for your skin. It is especially beneficial around the eyes, reducing puffiness and dryness. Speaking of ice, try grinding a potato or cabbage and packing that over your eye. They also pull toxins and impurities from your skin; these will reduce those black lines under your eyes.
Carrots have a lot of offer, any skin type, being rich in vitamin A, the skin’s favorite vitamin. Tomatoes are good for reducing oil and blackheads. Spread fresh tomato juice on your face and then sit for 10 minutes and then rinse well with lukewarm water. Yellow tomatoes work best on sensitive skin because of lower acid content in them.
Unpasteurized honey can be used in any of the masks. It’s nutritious, toning, antiseptic, and will help pull toxins out of skin.
Eggs can also be used to benefit every type of facial skin. For dry or normal skin, mix a raw egg with either 1 tablespoon of honey or curd. One egg white with a tablespoon of oatmeal helps oily skin and blackheads, too. Leave this on for 15-20 mins and then rinse.
Whenever you use a mask, remember that whatever is applied to the skin will also be absorbed into the skin. Use fresh, natural, organic ingredients to cleanse, tone, and nourish your skin. Radiant, youthful skin may be easier-and tastier-than you think!
